Get to Know Me

I’m a pediatric hematologist-oncologist on the MSK Kids team. I treat blood disorders using bone marrow (stem cell) transplantation and gene therapy. I focus on a group of diseases called hemoglobinopathies. This includes sickle cell disease and thalassemia.

I see patients at Memorial Hospital, the main hospital at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Besides caring for patients, I conduct laboratory and clinical research on cellular therapies. In the lab, I am working on new gene therapies for blood disorders, as well as a cellular therapy called CAR T cell therapy. I specifically study the side effects of CAR T cell therapies.

I am also looking at how the immune system rebuilds after cellular therapy treatment in children and young adults. I am looking into how this might affect the development of a serious transplant complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).

Stem cell transplant and cellular therapies are lengthy and intense treatments for my patients and their families. My role is to give the best medical care and support you. I want my patients to feel listened to, respected, and cared for.

I act as an advocate for your family during this long journey. I make sure you have the time and space to ask questions. I want you to understand the information so you can make the best choices.

By caring for patients and conducting research, I hope to improve the lives of people who need these treatments.

In addition to English, I am fluent in German and French. I am comfortable speaking with patients and families in all these languages.
