Get to Know Me

*Chinese-speaking patients, please note that Dr. Shen speaks Shanghainese (Shanghai dialect).*

As a board-certified breast medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) Commack, I work collaboratively with a team of surgical and radiation oncologists, as well as specialists in supportive services, to develop comprehensive care plans and individualized treatment regimens tailored to each patient’s needs.

As someone with a family history of breast cancer, I have a deep appreciation for the challenging mental, physical, and emotional journey that comes with a cancer diagnosis. I know that a cancer diagnosis is life-changing, and I hope to use my personal experience with it to serve as an empathetic light, guiding my patients through difficult times. To that end, I approach every patient that I encounter with compassion and great care. It is a privilege to witness the strength and resilience of my patients and their families; the most gratifying aspect of my work as a breast medical oncologist is having the opportunity to make a difference in their lives.

I am particularly interested in the treatment and management of HER2-positive breast cancers. The advent of many new drug developments in this space, especially targeted therapies, has made treatment options for patients with this disease wider and more robust. When I see patients with HER2-positive disease, I help them to navigate the different treatment options available, including cutting-edge clinical trials available at MSK. I am very fortunate to be practicing medicine during a time when pharmacologic advancement and new technologies are fast evolving, both positively impacting our patients’ quality of life and prolonging overall survival.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, crocheting, and traveling the world. I not only fiercely advocate for my patients, but also for physician wellness and curbing burnout in the medical field.
