Jessica Stiefel, MD, MS
Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Pediatrician
I am a hematologic oncologist on the MSK Kids team who cares for children and young adults with cancerous and noncancerous blood disorders. Some of these diseases can only be cured using a bone marrow or stem cell transplant, a treatment approach that replaces unhealthy cells with healthy ones.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has one of the world’s oldest and most well-established stem cell transplant and cellular therapy programs. The transplantation expertise that we offer our patients through these programs helps us and our patients achieve a shared goal: allowing them to lead full, healthy lives after transplantation.
I chose this field because it gives me the opportunity to work with families at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. The journey of stem cell transplantation therapy is a lengthy one, and we form close, long-lasting bonds with our patients throughout the treatment process.
When I meet a patient and their family for the first time, I take the time to understand the patient’s individual needs as well as the needs of the whole family. I am dedicated to providing family-focused care that holds the best promise for a cure. It is important to me that the families I work with know that I am committed to offering their children customized, cutting-edge therapies with maximum efficacy and minimal side effects.
In addition to caring for patients, I am actively involved in research evaluating the outcomes of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who receive stem cell transplantation as a treatment for their disease. The goal of this research is to better understand how the use of new treatments, such as transplantation therapy, affect outcomes compared with traditional chemotherapy options.
A pediatric hematologist-oncologist is a doctor who treats cancers of the blood in children and adolescents. This doctor is a hematologist (HEE-muh-TAH-loh-jist) who diagnoses and treats blood disorders. They also are an oncologist (cancer doctor).
