Get to Know Me

I am a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in the care and management of people who are medically ill. I work with patients, couples, and their families, listening carefully to their thoughts and wishes, and then providing them with individually tailored treatment plans. I consider open communication to be of utmost importance and encourage all of my patients and their supports to ask any questions they wish, and I will do my best to find the answers.

I was drawn to the field of psycho-oncology in order to help people find meaning in their lives and create powerful legacies to leave behind. It is a privilege to be able to work with patients at such a delicate time in their lives; I am skilled at helping them recreate joy and balance in their lives that they may have felt was lost. Having had a great deal of experience in the field of reproductive psychiatry and women’s health, I have a special interest in the impact of cancer on women and their mental health. Cancer can affect women in ways that are specific to their experiences, such as body image, role transitions, fertility, hormonal imbalances, and sexual dysfunction.

My research activities are focused on developing interventions to improve quality of life in young adults with cancer, and particularly in reproductive-age female patients struggling with infertility. I am also an associate attending in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and have an integral role in the training of fellows, residents, and medical students.

I have contributed on a national level to the field of consultation-liaison psychiatry, having presented in numerous workshops and symposiums focusing on women’s and reproductive mental health, and was recently inducted as a fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

I reside on Long Island, New York, and when not working with my patients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three sons, being in nature, running and playing tennis, and taking photographs.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

MSK requires doctors, faculty members, and leaders to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
