Mary C. Hughes

About Me

I am a board-certified radiologist, fellowship trained in breast and body imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  After completing my fellowship in July 2009, I joined the faculty of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Department of Radiology.  As a member of the Breast Imaging Service, I participate in both screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, MRI, and all image-guided breast interventional procedures including seed localizations. Approximately 20 percent of my clinical work is dedicated to interpreting body CT studies.

As a clinician-educator, I am dedicated to patient care, training our Memorial Sloan Kettering fellows and Weill Cornell residents, and outreach. I believe in the strength of team work and collaborate closely with surgeons and oncologists to devise the most-effective treatment plans for each patient. Additionally, I participate in clinical research with an emphasis on new imaging techniques such as contrast-enhanced mammography. I educate both my trainees and the public on the importance of early breast cancer detection.  I look forward to making further contributions to our patients, trainees, and staff as well as to the public in the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.
