Michael James Davis, MD
Dermatologist & Mohs Surgeon
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Instructor
I am a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon who cares for people with skin cancer. My clinic is dedicated to the treatment of all types of skin cancer, with an emphasis on:
- Basal cell carcinoma
- Squamous cell carcinoma
- Early-stage melanoma
- Aggressive and uncommon skin cancers
Most skin cancers are found on the head and neck or on other cosmetically sensitive areas. Because skin cancer can affect delicate parts of the body, like the face, it is important to preserve as much healthy skin as possible when we remove the cancer. Mohs micrographic surgery is a tissue-sparing procedure that I use to remove skin cancer in sensitive areas like these.

I have advanced fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery, cutaneous (skin) reconstruction, and other types of dermatologic surgery and laser treatments. This includes complex reconstruction, skin grafting, and laser-based scar treatment.
At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I work closely with other experts in surgery and medical oncology to advance skin cancer therapy while providing excellent patient care. We are deeply committed to getting our patients the best, most advanced treatment for their cancer, so they can comfortably and safely return to their daily routines.
Fortunately, the overall prognosis (outcome) for most skin cancers is very good. However, some people, including those on immunosuppressive therapies (drugs that suppress the immune system), those who have another type of cancer, or those who have previously received radiation therapy require a unique approach to care. We personalize treatment to the needs of each person who comes to us for care. No two patients are the same, so no two treatment plans should be the same. This individualized approach helps us meet our patients’ treatment goals, respect their needs and wishes, and effectively treat their cancer.
Personalizing treatment goes beyond the specific therapy that my patients and I choose to target the cancer. Surgery can be a very personal experience, particularly when we need to remove skin cancer from delicate areas of the body. I take the time to listen to each of my patients. I learn what they are and are not comfortable with from a surgical perspective, and I communicate honestly about what they can expect from surgery. The relationships that I build with my patients are founded on comfort and trust.
