Nelson Sanchez, MD

About Me

I have worked as an overnight hospitalist and currently serve as an urgent care physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Since joining MSK in 2008, I have worked on numerous initiatives to improve the institutional climate for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) patients, trainees, and staff. As a member of the LGBT Employee Resource Network, I lead institution-wide safe zone trainings that inform staff of on-site and local LGBT resources. I am also chairperson of Weill Cornell Medical College’s LGBT Steering Committee — which coordinates social mixers, mentorship programming, and LGBT-related research — and am on the executive committee for the annual LGBT Health Workforce Conference held in New York City.

Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.
