Get to Know Me

I’m a pediatric hematologist-oncologist on the MSK Kids team with special training in the care of children with solid tumors, particularly neuroblastoma. I also conduct research to advance our understanding of neuroblastoma, with the goal of improving results for patients. I see patients at Memorial Hospital, the main hospital at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

I chose the field of pediatric oncology because I am challenged by the fight against cancer. Understanding how cancer develops and discovering things we did not know about is also very rewarding for me. Equally, I value the long-term relationships and strong bonds that I establish with the families I care for, and how they grow over time.

In my research, I study how cancer evolves. We use a tool called liquid biopsy to make the best treatment decisions for each patient. A liquid biopsy is a test that looks for the presence of even a small number of cancer cells which may not be detected by standard tests.

It’s especially important for me to engage with the child from the very beginning. As a mother of three, I know how important it is for children to feel we are listening to them. I am very inspired by the children I treat. Their capacity to live in the moment and enjoy life against all the odds is humbling. I learn so much every day.

At MSK Kids, I am fortunate to work with a team that is dedicated to the care of children with cancer. I enjoy collaborating with them as well as my pediatric oncology colleagues around the globe. We all work together with a unified goal of curing childhood cancer. I have always been part of national and international collaborative groups and enjoy bringing these contributions to the MSK Kids team.
