Rachel Rosenblum, MD
Thoracic Medical Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

When patients and caregivers first meet with me, they are often scared and have many questions about their treatment options and potential side effects. I take the time to listen, address their concerns, and explore their goals and priorities. My aim is for them to feel supported and well cared for, and know that we will develop a care plan that offers the best possible outcome for them.
We know that lung cancer treatment can be overwhelming and cause physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Traveling a long distance for cancer care can be an additional burden. That’s why I’m excited to practice at Memorial Sloan Kettering Monmouth, a location that is convenient for residents of central and southern New Jersey, as well as Staten Island. There, my colleagues and I provide the most advanced treatment options, including clinical trials, closer to our patients’ homes.
My research focuses on identifying ways to effectively integrate supportive care (sometimes called palliative care) into treatment plans for people with advanced disease. This approach can help patients cope with cancer and their treatment so they can have the best possible quality of life. I lead studies and quality improvement projects designed to improve our patients’ experience throughout their care journey.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, and traveling.
A thoracic medical oncologist is a cancer doctor who specializes in thoracic (thor-A-sik) cancers. These are cancers that have to do with the chest, including lung, tracheal (windpipe), and thymic (thymus) cancers.
