Get to Know Me

I am an interventional radiologist, which is a physician who specializes in using image-guided, minimally invasive techniques to treat and diagnose various conditions including cancer. I am part of the hepatobiliary disease management team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), where I collaborate closely with surgeons, gastrointestinal medical oncologists and other specialists to ensure each patient receives coordinated and personalized care. Using CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy (X-ray imaging), or MRI, I perform procedures through tiny incisions—often no larger than a needle—which can help patients avoid more invasive surgery, recover faster, and experience fewer complications.

I often do procedures that help treat or diagnose cancer, with a focus on treating liver and bile duct cancers. These include:

  • Using imaging tools with a small probe placed through the skin to guide the destruction of tumors (called image-guided ablation)
  • Treating tumors via their blood flow to shrink or kill them (called embolization, including a special kind called Y-90)
  • Taking samples of tissue to check for cancer (biopsies)
  • Placing ports to make it easier for patients to receive treatments like chemotherapy

Each of these methods is designed to either get rid of cancer, shrink it, or help figure out what kind of cancer it is.

When patients first meet me, they’re often anxious about the unknown—what a procedure involves or how long their recovery will take. I take the time to walk each patient through what to expect, discuss their imaging with them, and answer questions clearly and with care. I understand that even “routine” procedures are never routine for the person experiencing them.

I was drawn to this field because it combines hands-on, minimally invasive treatment options and evolving techniques that can make a profound impact to people’s lives. It’s a privilege to offer treatments that are less invasive yet incredibly powerful—and to do so at MSK, where every member of the care team shares a deep commitment to excellence, collaboration and compassion.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

MSK requires doctors, faculty members, and leaders to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
