Sinchun Hwang, MD

About Me

I am a diagnostic radiologist with a particular interest in the imaging of musculoskeletal tumors. I am trained in interpreting a variety of imaging scans. These include CT, MRI, ultrasound, bone density scanning, and plain radiography. I also supervise radiology residents and fellows in their CT and MRI rotations.

I am passionate about using imaging to contribute to the diagnosis of tumors, to plan treatment, and to see how well a therapy is working. I have a subspecialty in musculoskeletal oncologic imaging. I work closely with orthopedic surgeons and oncologists. We meet each week to combine our knowledge and expertise and to review the treatment plans of the people we care for. I also participate in presurgical gastrointestinal mixed tumor conferences and sarcoma clinical joint conferences to help plan surgeries and therapies for cancers that are challenging to treat.

I am a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the International Skeletal Society. These groups include radiologists and doctors who work together nationwide and globally to improve care for people with musculoskeletal diseases.

Clinical Trials

As home to one of the world’s top cancer research centers, Memorial Sloan Kettering is typically involved in more than 900 clinical trials at a given time. Currently, clinical trials focused on the conditions I treat are enrolling new patients. Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.
