Smita Joshi, MD
Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.
About Me
- Assistant Attending Physician
I am a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist with expertise in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.
I provide patient-centered, evidence-based, and compassionate care. I value creating trusting, long-term relationships with my patients and being a part of their journey to wellness. I believe that it is important to treat each individual in the context of their personal beliefs, values, and social circumstances. It is fulfilling for me to partner with my patients for their treatment, to listen to and counsel them and their caregivers, and to offer support.

Cancer care has transformed given rapid developments in immunotherapy, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, and personalized medicine. Certain treatments are more effective and result in fewer side effects. I am excited to offer my patients innovative and cutting-edge therapies while tailoring treatments to their needs. Teamwork is essential in our field, and I collaborate with surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive care.
I received my undergraduate degree from Stanford University and completed my medical training at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. I have published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and have presented my research at national and international conferences. Through active participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards, scientific inquiry, and clinical trials, I strive to provide high-quality care for my patients while moving the field of cancer care forward.
