I am a board-certified internist, hematologist, and medical oncologist with special expertise in treating patients with cancers of the gastrointestinal tract such as colorectal, gastric, esophageal, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary cancers. After completing my fellowship training at St Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center (part of the Mount Sinai Health System in New York), and practicing as a clinical oncologist at UMDNJ University Hospital, I joined the faculty of Memorial Sloan Kettering Basking Ridge in 2013.
During the last eight years of my medical oncology training and practice, I was fortunate to gain exposure to diverse patient populations and cultures. This definitely changed and molded me into a well-rounded physician.
At Memorial Sloan Kettering’s regional care facility in Basking Ridge, we offer state-of-the-art comprehensive and compassionate cancer care for patients at a location close to their homes. I work closely with my colleagues in Manhattan, ensuring that the care we provide at Basking Ridge is consistent with Memorial Sloan Kettering’s high standard. My goal is to bring all the advances in cancer care to the community setting in a timely fashion. I offer culturally sensitive, compassionate, and ethical care to all my patients. I strongly believe in constant self-evaluation to enhance the delivery of patient care. I find working with cancer patients to be challenging and fulfilling.
The main focus of my practice is patient care, but I have a strong academic interest in gastrointestinal malignancies. I participate in research studies by enrolling patients in clinical trials available at Basking Ridge. I can also facilitate patients’ entry into trials that are available only at the Center’s main campus in Manhattan. I am an active participant in weekly meetings with colleagues in the Gastrointestinal Oncology group at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s main campus. As a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes surgeons, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists, I help develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Cancer diagnosis and its treatment can both create daily challenges for patients. To help them cope, I coordinate comprehensive care with other healthcare providers, nutritionists, and social workers as needed.
I am fluent in both English and Telugu.
