Susan Derby has been a nurse practitioner on the Palliative Medicine Service since 1993. She has worked on the inpatient consultation service and in ambulatory care, providing care for a caseload of highly symptomatic patients. Ms. Derby collaborates with hospices and home care agencies in providing symptom management and end-of- life care. As a geriatric nurse practitioner, she has started a geriatric palliative clinic as part of the Palliative Medicine Service. Ms. Derby is the past president of the local NYC Oncology Nursing Society Chapter and has published on end-of-life care and on care of the geriatric palliative care patient.
