I am an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) who provides support and cares for people within the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. I am based at the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Memorial Hospital. My focus is on delivering patient-centered care that prioritizes comfort, confidence, and understanding. Upon arrival, I greet my patients, assess their condition, and provide reassurance. Clear explanations of the recovery process, including pain management options, empower patients to participate in their care. Encouraging questions and addressing concerns creates an open dialogue. Vigilant monitoring ensures prompt detection of any issues. Before discharge, I offer clear instructions and emphasize the importance of follow-up care, ensuring patients feel supported throughout their recovery journey. Through compassionate and attentive care, I strive to make a positive impact on patients’ post-operative experience in the PACU.
Some of the most common questions and concerns that I hear from my patients are:
- How long will it take me to recover from anesthesia?
- How can I manage nausea?
- What are some ways to manage pain without the use of medication?
I take the time to provide clear communication and reassurance to the patient about the plan for their recovery from anesthesia. Understanding the plan and feeling confident in the recovery process can alleviate anxiety and contribute to a smoother post-surgery experience. In addition to supporting patients in their post-op recovery, my goal is to foster trust and build a positive provider-patient relationship.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and baking.
