Research collaborations with the Last Wish Program

The immense generosity of patients who donate their bodies to the Last Wish Program (LWP) has allowed us to build a valuable repository of tumor and non-neoplastic samples of a breadth (e.g. multiple anatomic sites) and depth (e.g. multiple regions of tumors) that would not be obtainable antemortem. The LWP archive includes a wide variety of frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue samples.

We work collaboratively with MSK investigators on research studies.

The LWP team includes pathologists, administrative staff, and technicians who can facilitate (among other things):

  • pathology review and qualitative and/or quantitative characterization of pathologic phenotypes
  • selection of optimal specimens and material for analysis
  • preparation of stained or unstained slides
  • immunohistochemistry (staining and interpretation)
  • nucleic acid extraction

Please contact us to discuss the specific needs of your project — we look forward to working with you.
