IMMEDIATE OPENING - Six month funding

Exciting opportunity for a research fellow to work on an ambitious clinical outcomes research program in lymphatic surgery for the treatment of lymphedema at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The Research Fellow will support the goals of the ECRIP Grant for the Department of Plastic Surgery.  The Fellow will see patients in the clinical setting who are undergoing lymphatic surgery develop and maintain a comprehensive lymphedema registry to identify those variables which are significant in improving outcomes.  This multi-faceted project will also include work on lymphatic imaging and improving our understanding of the changes in the microenvironment following lymph node transfer. 

Requirements for position

The Research Fellow must be a US or Canadian citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States or Canada and at least one of the following:

  • A graduate of a medical school located in New York State
  • A graduate or resident in a graduate medical education program where the sponsoring institution is located in New York State
  • Reside in New York State by October 2014

The above requirements are stipulated by the grant funding this position and are non-negotiable.

  • 1- year commitment to this project is required

Knowledge required

Minimum Experience: enrolled in, or completed a graduate medical education program.

Preferred Education (optional): MD

Preferred Experience (optional): prior research experience in the clinical setting, and an interest in lymphedema

Special skills and abilities that are not required but of interest

  • Coursework in statistical analysis
  • Radiology background
  • Experience in clinical research/study design/database development
  • Experience writing IRB protocols
  • Experience in basic science/laboratory work
  • Computer skills –proficiency in the use of computers and software such as database management, spreadsheet, and word processing.
