Liver Tumor Clinical Trials & Research for Children

At MSK Kids, your child may be able to take part in a clinical trial, also known as a clinical research study. In a clinical trial, doctors study new treatments to find out if they are more effective than current treatments. Nearly every pediatric cancer treatment used today exists because of a clinical trial.

Our patients have access to many of the latest clinical trials, some of which are available only at MSK Kids. We also participate in many nationwide clinical trials as a founding member of the Children’s Oncology Group, as the coordinating center and co-founder of the Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigators’ Consortium, and through other clinical trial networks across the United States.

The decision to have your child take part in a clinical trial is entirely up to you and your family. Regardless of whether your child receives standard liver tumor treatment or treatment through a clinical trial, he or she will benefit from MSK Kids’ ongoing commitment to providing the best care for children.

Researchers are assessing a CAR T cell therapy to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) that keeps growing even with treatment. With CAR T cell therapy, some of your own T cells (a type of white blood cell) are removed. They are genetically modified (changed) in a lab to recognize your own cancer cells. The altered T cells, called CAR T cells, are then returned to your body to find and kill cancer cells. This treatment is a form of immunotherapy.
Researchers want to find the best dose of avutometinib to treat children and young adults with advanced solid tumors. The people in this study have cancers that have spread or come back after treatment. In addition, their cancers have a mutation (change or variant) in a protein family called MAPK. These proteins tell cancer cells to grow.
Researchers want to find the best dose of CBX-250 to treat leukemia that came back or keeps growing after treatment. The people in this study have one of these diseases:
MSK researchers are studying a new CAR T cell therapy to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML). They want to evaluate its safety and find the best dose of the new treatment. The adults and children in this study have AML that keeps growing even after treatment. The new CAR T cell therapy is called CD371-CAR-IL18.
In this study, researchers are assessing the safety of the drug lurbinectedin in young people with solid tumors. In the first part, they will find the highest dose of lurbinectedin to use safely in children with solid tumors. If your child joins, this is the part of the study they will be in.
PF-07799544 and PF-07799933 both work by blocking proteins that promote melanoma growth. PF-07799544 blocks a family of proteins called MEK and PF-07799933 inhibits the BRAF protein. Both drugs are taken orally (by mouth).
The purpose of this study is to find the highest dose of the investigational drug PF-07799933 that can be given alone and in combination with binimetinib or cetuximab in people with advanced solid tumors that have continued to grow despite treatment and contain a mutation in the BRAF gene. A mutated BRAF gene makes a protein that sends signals to cancer cells to grow and divide. While some anti-cancer drugs only work for certain BRAF mutations, the investigational drug PF-07799933 may target all types of BRAF mutant proteins, blocking them from sending these signals and causing cancer cells to die.
Researchers are assessing two different doses of revumenib to give with azacitidine and venetoclax in young people with leukemia. This study includes children, teens, and young adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or acute leukemia of ambiguous lineage (ALAL) that came back or keeps progressing after treatment.
Researchers want to find the best dose of TORL-1-23 to use in people with advanced solid tumors. The people in this study have solid tumors that have spread and cannot be successfully treated with standard therapies.
