Emma Giancaterino was planning to travel the globe when she was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma. She came to Memorial Sloan Kettering for help and made connections through MSK’s Teen and Young Adult Program. Now, Emma is healthy and thriving as a college student.
After complaining of pain and swollen glands in her neck, nine-year-old Sarah was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a very rare cancer in children that begins in the upper part of the throat behind the nose. She came to Memorial Sloan Kettering for treatment with a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
