Mary Sue Brady, MD, is the Director of MSK's Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and Hernia Repair Program.
People diagnosed with an abdominal wall hernia do not need to have a cancer diagnosis to access care through MSK’s Abdominal Wall Hernia Program.
The Abdominal Wall Hernia Program at MSK brings together both a reconstructive surgeon and a hernia specialist with the aim of restoring both form and function. This combination of expertise is not commonly found at other healthcare centers. We combine the expertise of reconstructive and hernia specialists in order to optimize outcomes and minimize complications. Our surgeons use the latest strategies and materials, and work together to restore the integrity of the abdominal wall. Patients are seen in consultation by both specialists before proceeding with hernia repair in order to plan the optimal surgical approach.
