Antioxidant Supplementation Linked to Increased Mortality in Randomized Trials

March 5, 2007

Conclusions from a systematic review published in the Journal of American Medical Association suggest that antioxidant supplementation may increase mortality. The review included 68 randomized studies on antioxidants beta carotene, vitamin A, and vitamin E that are commonly used as a preventative measure for many diseases.

However, some medical experts still recommend consuming antioxidants from diets rich in fruits and vegetables.
