U.S. Marshals seized $19,000 in dietary supplements from Global Source Management and Consulting, Inc in Florida. Nearly 20 different products were taken including those sold under the names “Vitamin Hut” and “RX for Health” through retail booths and mail order channels. The FDA requested the seizure because the company failed to comply with warnings that their promotional literature contained numerous unapproved claims such as prevention of cancer and treatment of arthritis. The FDA does not allow dietary supplements to be marketed under claims of disease prevention or cure without being tested and approved as a new drug.
