Adam Widman, MD
Breast Medical Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Physician
I am a breast oncologist dedicated to providing personalized care for people with breast cancer. I treat early-stage and advanced, HER2-positive, triple-negative, hormone receptor-positive, and inflammatory breast cancers, as well as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).
When patients come to see me, they are often worried about what a breast cancer diagnosis means for them. Questions I commonly hear include “how will the medicine make me feel?” and “will I feel well enough on therapy to continue my usual activities?” Many patients also ask how they can reduce the risk for recurrence (cancer returning). I encourage the people who come to me for their cancer care to ask questions and openly communicate about their needs and concerns.

I understand that a cancer diagnosis can be a life-changing event, and I strive to provide empathetic care and empower patients through information. This includes helping patients understand why I make the treatment recommendations that I do. We discuss the risks and benefits together and tailor their treatment plan to their goals.
I use genomics (the study of the complete set of a person’s DNA) to match patients to the therapies that are best for them, based on their cancer biology. I also involve our research team when a clinical trial could offer someone the best possible therapy. I am fortunate to work with an outstanding team of surgeons, radiation oncologists, and nurses.
My research focuses on developing new tools for cancer detection and monitoring through blood tests. I use artificial intelligence (AI) and cancer genomics to quantify trace amounts of cancer within blood. The tools that I build as a physician-scientist identify residual cancer after surgery and monitor cancer levels in the blood to see how well the cancer is responding to treatment. My goal is to bring these tools into clinical practice to help select therapies for patients.
A breast medical oncologist is a cancer doctor who specializes in breast cancer.
