About Me
I am a licensed psychologist with a specialty in counseling psychology. As a member of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Psychiatry & Behavioral Science team, I provide psychotherapy services that help patients and their families with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis. I help the individuals who come to me understand and process the cancer experience, address symptoms of depression and anxiety, and increase the range and use of coping skills.
A cancer diagnosis can create a lot of uncertainty and provoke strong emotions, like fear and anxiety, within patients and their families. It is my goal that each patient I see leaves my office with a little more heart to face the challenges before them — and with the knowledge that they can do just that.

I also have expertise in clinical health psychology, which focuses on alleviating medical illness’ impact on an individual through the use of behavioral intervention. In this area, I am particularly interested in treating insomnia through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is considered a gold standard treatment for this condition. I also have extensive training in behavioral cancer symptom management, weight loss, pain management, and tobacco cessation.
My research is focused on developing psychosocial interventions to help patients manage physical and psychological cancer-related symptoms. The goal of this research is to increase awareness and use of non-pharmacological cancer symptom management strategies through telemedicine platforms. Through my research, I have contributed to the development of symptom management interventions for couples confronting lung cancer, rural patients with advanced cancer, and adolescents and young adults with cancer.
Research has shown that uncontrolled cancer-related symptoms significantly decrease a patient’s quality of life. My work centers on improving the patient experience through individualized patient support and the study of new strategies for symptom control that keep mental health at the forefront.
