Get to Know Me

I am a radiation oncologist who has special training in treating all types of thoracic cancers. I treat early-stage cancer as well as advanced or metastatic cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

I am an expert in using Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), a type of radiation treatment that delivers precise, intense doses of radiation to cancer cells while reducing damage to healthy tissue. I use SBRT to treat metastatic disease from all types of primary cancer with a goal of improving symptoms and quality of life, and to also improve survival.

I also specialize in using chemoradiation to treat metastatic cancer. Chemoradiation is a type of cancer treatment that combines chemotherapy with radiation therapy. This can help make treatment with radiation more effective.

At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), I serve as Director of the Metastatic Service. MSK has the oldest and largest Metastatic Service, and we focus on finding new ways to use radiation with other therapies to improve treatment results for all types of cancer. We have multiple clinical trials and efforts aimed at selecting patients who may be good candidates. Using data, we create personal approaches to treat each patient so we can achieve the best results. We offer a holistic approach that improves patient survival and quality of life.

I see patients at Memorial Hospital in New York City as well as MSK Basking Ridge in New Jersey.

I wanted to be an oncologist (a doctor trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer) for as long as I can remember. My interest in physics, mathematics, and engineering combined with cancer and cancer biology, motivated me to pursue radiation oncology.

I became interested in thoracic radiation oncology because non-small cell lung cancer was, and continues to be, the most common cancer (aside from skin cancers) with negative outcomes. This led me to specialize in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and other cancers using stereotactic body radiation therapy to treat both primary and metastatic cancer.

My clinical trial and translational research efforts have led to new methods to treat metastatic non-small cell lung cancer by stopping the cancer from spreading further and improving overall survival. I co-lead the Bone Metastases Program which includes different types of experts and focuses on managing bone metastases with local therapies and includes a robust portfolio of clinical trials.

In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching college and professional sports. I love spending time with my family, including our three kids and labradoodle named Maverick. I also love trying out different types of food.
