In my role as a clinical investigator, I study metabolic dysfunction’s impact on cancer. It is becoming increasingly clear that tumors develop in a complex environment that can be influenced by diet, physical activity, inflammation, and medical conditions such as diabetes and high cholesterol. These factors can affect the efficacy of cancer therapies and the severity of side effects. For this reason, it is incredibly important to consider each patient’s overall health and wellbeing to maximize the benefit of cancer treatment and minimize toxicity. To that end, I am developing clinical trials to test lifestyle interventions and novel pharmacologic agents that optimize metabolic health in patients with breast cancer.

In my clinical practice, I prioritize a personalized approach toward patient care. I love getting to know my patients outside of their diagnosis and believe that this is of utmost importance in creating a treatment plan that aligns with their goals. I aim to empower my patients to make informed decisions based on the latest innovative breast cancer research. Given my research expertise, I also incorporate discussion on lifestyle factors, such as nutrition and exercise, into cancer therapy. My goal is for patients to leave their visits with a comprehensive plan that is clearly communicated and a feeling of comfort regarding their next steps. It is truly a privilege to be able to help patients at this vulnerable time and form long-term relationships over the course of cancer care.
