I am a board-certified Family Health Nurse Practitioner with a doctorate and nearly two decades of experience in cancer care, primary care, obesity medicine, and preoperative management, which involves preparing patients for surgery. I became a Family Nurse Practitioner to bridge gaps in care and advocate for patients, motivated by personal experiences where I witnessed firsthand how fragmented healthcare can negatively impact patient outcomes. These experiences deeply inspired me to provide thoughtful, expert guidance, especially for those facing complex health challenges.
I am an expert-level Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. APPs are healthcare providers with specialized training who collaborate closely with physicians to deliver comprehensive care.
As an APP, I lead programs focused on cancer care and actively train and educate other APPs. I have a strong interest in telemedicine and have researched the use of telehealth and virtual visits for preoperative evaluations. My primary goals when meeting patients preparing for surgery are to thoroughly assess their health status and to identify and collaboratively manage any conditions that may affect surgical outcomes. I strive to provide reassurance and clear communication, aiming to reduce anxiety, build trust, and ensure patients feel informed and confident about their upcoming procedures. This collaborative approach helps us achieve the best possible outcomes.
I also have advanced education and training in obesity medicine and deliver preventive care to individuals with chronic conditions. With a background in public health, I am passionate about promoting health equity and supporting long-term wellness.
In addition, I serve as a Nurse Practitioner faculty member. I enjoy mentoring and educating new clinicians and contributing to academic advancement as a peer reviewer for professional journals. I remain committed to advancing cancer care, clinical research, patient safety, and healthcare education.
