What does leadership look like in a technology-driven field? For Chief Resident David Miller, MD, it starts with advocacy.  As he leads within the Radiation Oncology Residency program, Dr. Miller is focused on building practical solutions that enhance the training environment. This year, he is spearheading efforts to expand hands-on education in simulation, dosimetry, and physics—ensuring residents master not just clinical judgment, but the technical workflows that drive patient.

Chief Resident Helen Zhang, MD believes that the best leadership empowers others while providing a safety net of support. To carry this culture forward, she is helping develop a resident peer mentorship program designed to support trainees from their first day of onboarding through their long-term career development. At MSK, you aren’t just a trainee; you are part of a 24-person team that leans on one another every day.

Chief Resident Alok Deshane, MD highlights that our residency program is full of brilliant minds who think critically about how to improve the status quo. Dr. Deshane is particularly excited about the growth of longitudinal research mentorship, offering junior residents the freedom to tailor their training to their specific career goals.

Chief Resident Sybil Jones, MD is dedicated to improving the day-to-day experience of training by strengthening the program’s structure. She is focused on expanding access to hands-on learning in physics and dosimetry, helping residents deepen their understanding of treatment delivery.

As a Research Fellow in the prestigious Holman Pathway, Dr. Weber is dedicated to training the next generation of physician-scientists. Dr. Weber leverages his dual background in medicine and research to bridge the gap between laboratory discovery and clinical application, ensuring MSK remains at the forefront of oncological advancement. At one of the world’s top cancer centers, our residents are trusted to take real ownership of patient care within a network that supports them long after they leave.
