Luke R.G. Pike, MD, DPhil
Radiation Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.
About Me
- Director, Brain Radiation Oncology
- Assistant Attending Radiation Oncologist
I specialize in treating primary and metastatic brain tumors. I have expertise using all advanced radiation therapy techniques, including stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, and image-guided radiation therapy. I practice at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Main Campus in Manhattan.

I first became interested in oncology while volunteering at a summer camp for children with cancer. My experiences with these remarkable children inspired me to pursue a DPhil (PhD) in translational cancer research at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, attend medical school, and ultimately become an oncologist who treats cancers with radiation.
In addition to taking care of people with brain tumors, I am actively engaged in research that seeks to understand the mechanisms by which cancer spreads to the brain, the genetics of these tumors, and ways in which we can improve treatment for brain metastasis with improved drug therapy and radiosurgery. I also study how we can use novel approaches to detect cancer early, such as identifying cancer DNA in the blood or cerebrospinal fluid, and am leading several clinical trials in this area.
As a radiation oncologist, it is my goal to treat not just the disease but the person in front of me. I strive to support my patients and their families, and to personalize treatments to achieve their goals of care. It is always my aim to offer my patients the most cutting-edge and effective cancer treatments, while also getting to know them as individuals. I believe that great cancer care considers the person, their culture, and their values.
A radiation oncologist is a cancer doctor with special training in using radiation therapy (RT) to treat cancer with radiation.
