Natasha Rekhtman, MD, PhD

About Me

I am a diagnostic pathologist with expertise in thoracic pathology and cytopathology. After a residency and surgical pathology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and cytopathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering, I joined the faculty here in 2008. As part of the Thoracic Disease Management Team, I work with my colleagues from surgery, oncology, and radiation oncology to care for people affected by lung, pleural, and mediastinal neoplasms.

My research interests are focused primarily on lung cancer. I aim to advance the diagnosis and classification of lung tumors, and to develop biomarkers that help clinicians select the best treatment for people with these tumors. I collaborate closely with members of the Thoracic Disease Management Team to support various clinical and laboratory-based investigations for our team.

Clinical Trials

As home to one of the world’s top cancer research centers, Memorial Sloan Kettering is typically involved in more than 900 clinical trials at a given time. Currently, clinical trials focused on the conditions I treat are enrolling new patients. Most major health insurers offer plans that include MSK as one of their in-network providers. If MSK is in-network, it means all our doctors are too. Medicaid and New York State Medicare also provide benefits for care at MSK.
