Staying active during and after cancer treatment can play an important role in your recovery. Activities including strength training, Pilates, yoga, and meditation can prevent and reverse physical side effects such as fatigue, muscle weakness and bone density loss, and achieve long term wellness goals.
You can view our weekly schedule below. Click on the weekday to view our offerings for that day. Our classes are offered at two Manhattan locations, the Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center and the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center.

Inspired by Pilates, barre, and yoga, this class supports the needs of young people with cancer, ages 18 to 40. Starting with a gentle meditation, you will use a mix of light weights and resistance bands to shape and sculpt arms, legs, glutes and abdominals, while also engaging the core. Set to dynamic and upbeat music, Core Strength for Young Adults incorporates the mind / body connection and a motivating environment for people adjusting to life during and after cancer treatment.

Our signature aerobics class will help patients of all ages and abilities increase their endurance for everyday activities. Utilizing a variety of small weights, this class helps decrease breathlessness and fatigue, improve muscle tone and flexibility.
Focused Fitness for Women is geared for our female patient populations, particularly breast and GYN cancer survivors. Common side effects these patients experience after surgery can include lymphedema or “frozen shoulder”. This class can help reduce the risk of lymphedema and improve range of motion if the condition has already been diagnosed. Exercises in this class will target areas of the body, including abs, legs, seat, lower back and thighs, without jumping and running that can put strain on the joints.
Refresh your meditation practice with the supportive MSK community. This class offers a serene place to unplug, unwind and reconnect with yourself and others. With the support of the teacher, you will try different ways to calm and focus the mind and body. Sessions include guided mindfulness meditation practice, gentle movement and discussion.
Our PEX class pays attention to the unique needs men share: to rebuild their muscle strength, improve balance and increase endurance. Through cardio sequences and weight training, PEX offers men of all ages and stage of treatment a fun and challenging workout that improve their health and confidence.
Strong Bones & Muscular Health is an exercise program for those who have osteoporosis or are at risk of developing it. Exercise helps to maintain bone density and stimulate bone growth. This class uses walking, aerobics, and balance and weight training to strengthen bones.
Tai Chi/Qi Gong combines movement and meditation and can be practiced by individuals of any age or fitness level. Regular practice can reduce stress, increase stamina and balance, and improve sleep.
In Yoga for Core Strength, you will learn breath awareness meditations with a variety of floor, seated, and standing yoga poses. This purposeful mix of movements will safely build abdominal muscles while protecting joints and the lower back.
Yoga classes at MSK are taught by certified instructors. They have special experience and training to teach yoga to people with cancer. Yoga for Core Strength is a safe class for people experiencing post-treatment side-effects, including neuropathy and joint pain.
Try yoga in a supportive and soothing environment customized to you. In these classes, you will learn a variety of classic yoga breathing methods and postures, and can work on improving your flexibility, lifting your mood, and learning how to better control your breathing.
