Aaron Gillmor, PhD, is a computational biologist within the Center for Molecular Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a research collaborator with the Shouval Lab.
Aaron began his bioinformatics training at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, where he completed an honors thesis focused on mutation prioritization in rare genetic disorders through the Alberta Children’s Hospital. He went on to earn his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, investigating how the genetic heterogeneity of glioblastoma clones evolves across space and time in response to treatment. Following his doctoral research, Aaron joined Memorial Sloan Kettering to continue his work in cancer research, with a particular focus on the evolutionary trajectories of cancers undergoing therapeutic intervention. His work bridges clinical oncology and molecular data, aiming to empower clinicians to integrate genomic sequencing into the study and treatment of hematological malignancies. He is especially interested in the phylogenetic evolution of these cancers and how molecularly defined clones adapt to selective pressures such as immunotherapies and the tumor microenvironment.
