Members of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences are national and international leaders in practice-changing clinical innovation and research for an entire subspecialty of evidence-based psychiatric oncology.

We are a mecca for clinical and research training in the field of evidence-based psychiatric oncology.

Our clinical faculty provides individually tailored mental-health care to patients, family members, and caregivers throughout the course of care with Memorial Sloan Kettering. Many of our psychiatrists have subspecialty training in psychosomatic medicine.

We are investigators and collaborators, leading innovative research in such areas as:

  • symptom control
  • delivery of psychotherapy
  • health education
  • patient communication
  • health behavior intervention
  • cancer disparities
A large number of our faculty have completed research fellowships and been involved in training clinician and scientist colleagues in the field of psycho-oncology. In addition, we’re proud to serve as leaders, mentors, and supervisors within clinical fellowships and as lecturers for didactics for clinical fellows.
